The Attorney General of the Republic, Larry Devoe, fulfilled a work agenda in the state of Nueva Esparta aimed at promoting the National Consultation on Criminal Justice Reform.
The day, as reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), included a technical visit to the “Los Cocos” Care Entity, located on the island of Margarita, where the highest authority spoke with sanctioned adolescents, their families and those responsible for the socio-educational programs that are carried out there.
In this regard, Devoe specified that judicial transformation encompasses the comprehensive review of the practices and regulatory bases of the juvenile criminal system, based on the principles of absolute priority and best interests, in strict accordance with the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
During the tour, the person responsible for the criminal action was accompanied by the governor of the entity, Marisel Velásquez, to whom he expressed his gratitude for the institutional support provided for the development of the activity.
On the other hand, the authority emphasized that the fight against corruption constitutes a cross-cutting pillar of the national debate.
“We cannot allow the malpractice of a minority to tarnish the commitment, ethics and credibility of the vast majority of public servants who work every day with an authentic vocation for service,” he said.
As part of the institutional agenda, Devoe held a direct meeting with prosecutors, administrative staff and workers from the different offices of the Public Ministry in the region, with the purpose of evaluating working conditions and collecting proposals aimed at optimizing the functional performance of each firm.
