Authorities coordinate celebration for the canonization of José Gregorio Hernández and Carmen Rendiles

The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, this Thursday, September 4, reported that he held a meeting with the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, in order to coordinate the celebrations in honor of the Canonization Ceremony of the Venezuelan Blesseds of José Gregorio Hernández and Carmen Rendiles.
In his account on the social network Telegram, Gil specified that “the Canonization Ceremony of the Venezuelan Blesseds José Gregorio Hernández and Carmen Rendiles, which will take place in St. Peter's Square in Rome on October 19.”
For her part, Mayor Meléndez indicated that the Venezuelan authorities are preparing a special plan to celebrate this historic moment in the country. “The People are waiting with faith for this moment,” he said.
He stated that the people of Caracas and all of Venezuela, “will live with great fervor the canonization of their first saints, Doctor José Gregorio Hernández and Mother Carmen Rendiles, for which we will have special activities (...) With joy and culture, we are preparing for it”.
“For the first time, two Venezuelans will be sanctified by the Catholic Church, a fact that fills the inhabitants with pride,” he said.
Doctor José Gregorio Hernández, born in the state of Trujillo, came to the capital city at a very young age, where he demonstrated his patriotism, faith and deep love for the people. For her part, Mother Carmen Rendiles, from Caracas, did great social and religious work with her congregation.
