Authorities from Venezuela and Angola meet in the framework of the II Africa-CARICOM Summit

On the sidelines of the Second Africa-CARICOM Summit (Caribbean Community), held at the headquarters of the African Union, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Angola held a bilateral meeting in Addis Ababa, Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

The meeting was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola, Téte António, and the Deputy Minister for Africa of the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Yuri Pimentel, accompanied by Ambassador Felisberto Martins, director for the Americas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the African country,

At the meeting, Pimentel delivered an official letter from President Nicolás Maduro Moros addressed to his counterpart from Angola, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, also current president of the African Union, in which he expressed his deep concern about the recent extraterritorial military deployment, with nuclear power equipment and weapons, of the United States of America (USA), which threatens peace in the entire region, highlighting the call of twenty countries, members of the Community of States Latin Americans and the Caribbean (CELAC), in defense of peace, stability, democracy and regional development, press review by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Venezuela hailed Angola for its role at the head of the presidency of the African Union and highlighted the fundamental role it plays in strengthening political consultation and cooperation on the African continent.
