Authorities serve communities after sudden flooding of the Guanare River

Civil Protection Teams, Firefighters and security agencies successfully rescued five people who were isolated after the sudden increase in the flow of the Guanare River and are still deployed to provide care for those affected, according to a post made on the Instagram account of the National Directorate of Civil Protection and Disaster Management (PCAD).

The commander of the Operational Zone for Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis, Daniel Márquez, stressed the importance of preventive measures.

The director of Portuguese Civil Protection, also stressed that nature is unpredictable and called on the population to remain alert and follow official guidelines in the face of possible new floods in this sub-basin.

The phenomenon occurred this morning due to the increase of the Anús River, in the northwest of the state, which affected bathers who were in the vicinity of a platform set up for the activities of the Masquerade 2026.

The immediate mobilization of military and police forces allowed citizens to regain their freedom with normal health conditions.

Although the rescue operation ended in a satisfactory manner for the physical integrity of those affected, local authorities reported several material losses at the recreational site.

The Portuguesa Government team coordinated on-site care to assess the damage and secure the area.
