This Monday, June 1, the president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, announced the launch of the 0-800 extortion platform, to do justice for the police, prosecutors and honest officials within the system and to put an end to “the matraca” in the country.
“I asked the team for a line, a technological
platform, 0-800 Extortion, because it's not fair for
honest police to pay for someone who extorts citizens, it's not fair for
honest prosecutors to pay for prosecutors who charge citizens, it's not fair for honest judges to pay equally for judges
who extort money from citizens,” he said during the start of the National Consultation for Criminal Justice Reform.
He also reaffirmed that this action also
seeks to “end matraca and extortion” in the country. “Enough! The
Venezuelan people are asking for it and I ask for the collaboration of our country, I ask for the
collaboration of the bodies involved,” he said.
He stressed that this seeks to do
justice for all honest police officers, officials, judges and prosecutors who
work for Venezuela.
“Enough of tarnishing the dignity of organizations and institutions that have done their best in the worst moments of political violence against Venezuela, those who have put their chest in the face of violence are our police officers, they are the officials of our Bolivarian National Armed Forces; that distinction, that honor, inherited from the Liberation Army, we must take care of it and we must preserve it, that is why I take this step and make this decision”, asserted.
