The Bolivarian Government is making 60% progress in the construction of an alternative bridge that will connect the Merida sectors of Pueblo Llano, Las Piedras and Aracay, in order to extend road options for transporters of agricultural items, following the situation generated by the intense rains that impacted the state.

This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Social Articulation, Marjorie Moreno, in a review of the Government of Mérida, in which she specified that in just 12 days, joint work was carried out between the Ministry of People's Power of Transport and Public Works, Government of Mérida and the Orinoco Steel Company (SIDOR), to ensure the mobility of agricultural products from the Andean state.

“Mérida represents about 60% of the national production of items such as potatoes, carrots, garlic and vegetables, which are essential for the country's supply,” he stressed.

He noted that in the next 72 hours, the temporary passage through the new bridge will be enabled, which will make it possible to partially normalize the transit of goods and alleviate the situation of local producers.

Moreno added that they will continue with the execution of strategic works to improve road infrastructure and ensure the safety of agricultural transport.

Previously, the governor of the Andean entity, Arnaldo Sánchez, announced that 100% of the main routes for the interregional export of Merida's agricultural production were recovered; which extended his thanks to the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
