Bolivarian Government began temporary border closure this Friday due to Municipal Elections

The Bolivarian Government made official this Friday, July 25, the temporary closure of border crossings in the country, including the state of Táchira, from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., next Monday, July 28, through the Extraordinary Official Gazette No. 6,921, published on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

The measure is part of preventive security actions on the occasion of the Municipal Elections and the National Popular Consultation called for Sunday, July 27.

According to the document, the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (CEOFANB) is ordered to establish strict control over the border movement of people, by land, air and sea, to reinforce security in the days before, during and after the electoral process.

In this regard, the border crossings enabled by the Simón Bolívar, Francisco de Paula Santander and Atanasio Girardot international bridges, which connect Cúcuta and Villa del Rosario with Venezuelan territory, will remain completely closed for the established period.
