The Bolivarian Government, starting this Friday, July 25, starting at 12:00 in the morning, decreed the suspension of the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages throughout the national territory, as well as the prohibition of carrying firearms and knife weapons, ahead of the elections this Sunday, July 27. The measure will end at 11:59pm next Monday, July 28.

The measure, framed in the Plan República security device, seeks to guarantee order and tranquility during the Municipal Elections and the III Popular Consultation 2025.

The resolution was made official through Official Gazette No. 6,921, in a joint decree issued by the Ministry of People's Power, Defense and the Ministry of People's Interior Power, Justice and Peace.

The main objective is to protect citizen security and the country's internal order before, during and after election day.

In addition to the well-known “dry law”, the decree establishes a series of additional restrictions to ensure the proper conduct of the elections.

In this regard, public meetings and demonstrations, gatherings of people and any other act that may disturb the electoral process are prohibited. The sale and distribution of pyrotechnic devices is also prohibited.

The authorities have warned that non-compliance with these provisions will result in severe penalties, ranging from arrests to the closure of commercial establishments and the imposition of fines, while more than 380,000 officials remain deployed throughout the country to ensure compliance with regulations.
