This Thursday, June 18, the Minister of Popular Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, together with the governor of the state of Falcón, Víctor Clark, delivered 20 40 HP outboard motors to the entity's artisanal fishermen.
The event was held in the fishing community of Rio Seco in the municipality of Miranda, Coro, with the participation of the National Councils of Fishermen, Fishermen and Aquaculturists (CONPPA) of the municipalities of Monseñor Iturriza (Chichiriviche), Miranda (Coro), Acosta (San Juan de los Cayos) and L os Taques (Judibana).
In his speech, Minister Loyo pointed out that in the first five months of the year 2026, the fishing sector in the state of Falcón has grown by 7%, so it is considered one of the five main entities in terms of fishing, with 92 fishing communities, 71 CONPPA and more than 11,000 fishermen.
“This is an area of vital importance to work and move forward, so today we are deepening the guidelines of the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez with the delivery of engines of the best brand through the replacement program that incorporates new technology for our fishermen; of the 500 that make up the plan, Falcón already has 40,” he said.
He also highlighted that these engines are financed and the fishing people are very receptive to this policy that promotes their profession and economy while contributing to food sovereignty.
In addition, Loyo announced new lines of work such as funding for fishing gear kits, engine repair and the boat conditioning program.
For his part, the regional president, Víctor Clark, indicated that they will continue with productive, technical and organizational support through the working groups that are carried out in the sector to specify solutions that will systematically strengthen the local economy.
“The impetus that the fishing sector provides to the country's growth and food consumption is a potential that can be used to also promote the export of seafood and that is what we are doing with all these policies that the national government has implemented,” he emphasized.
The beneficiary Asdrúbal Acosta thanked the Government for its contribution to artisanal fishing in a second phase, which he hopes will continue to multiply to serve more colleagues who need to renew their fishing implements and continue to add to the country's productive sector.
“This has been a giant step; we see how our profession is dignified in this area but also with social days, banking and other aspects that have driven our development,” he said.
In turn, the fisherwoman Eunises Gómez from CONPPA “Carmen Arias” from Chichiriviche expressed her happiness when she was taken into account with this contribution.
“My children are fishermen and I am dedicated to selling; I feel very happy because we will continue fishing and helping each other to move our country forward,” he said.
