This Friday, March 20, production kits were delivered to cacao farmers in the Rivera del Río Arauca Vibrador District, in the state of Apure.
These are combos with scarves, picks, machetes, shovels and rakes with which women and men who produce cacao can work the land.
The Minister of Popular Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Julio León, stressed that the day was held hand in hand with the National Institute for Agricultural Research (INIA), the government of Apure and the company Agroflora (Bravos de Apure).
“We are setting up a large nursery to diversify the local economy. Apure has always been recognized for its livestock strength, but today we see an extraordinary cacao that we are going to promote to position the chocolate produced in this commune worldwide,” said the head of the ministerial portfolio, who added that the entity has high production indicators both in yield per kilo and in plant density per hectare.
For his part, the governor of the state of Apure, Wilmer Rodríguez, specified that he will extend this production model to the seven municipalities of the entity, with the objective of making cocoa an emblematic item for the entire state.
