This Saturday, September 6, the 2025 Community Games officially kicked off in the country's 5,336 communal circuits.
This was announced by the Sectorial Vice President for Social and Territorial Socialism, Héctor Rodríguez, who stressed that this is a sports and cultural day that activates communities in spaces for meeting, training and recreation.
He also emphasized that the Community Games seek to promote healthy recreation and reduce the use of fewer screens, a policy promoted by President Nicolás Maduro.
For his part, the Minister of Popular Power for Sports, Franklin Cardillo, indicated that, after a great day with the Student Games, in which more than two million athletes participated, it is now the turn of the more than 49,000 Community Councils.
“These communal games consist of five stages, but in this first phase they are aimed at boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 12, who will have 27 sports disciplines, as well as traditional games, including spinning top, gurrufío and metras,” Cardillo explained.
He also extended the invitation to older adults to join sports and creative activities, so that they can lead a healthier and more active life.
Carrillo reported that this first phase of the Community Games will also carry out dance therapy classes across the country, including the 299 communal circuits in Caracas.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, pointed out that the national recreation policy is active, which includes permanent activities every weekend in each community, as well as in the communal circuits of the Venezuelan capital.
