Bolivarian Government inaugurated the first indigenous Civil Registry in Guayana Esequiba

The Bolivarian Government inaugurated the first indigenous Civil Registry in San Martín de Turumbang in the state of Guayana Esequiba, according to the Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) website.

He specifies that the center will serve more than 10 thousand people, which represents a milestone in the history of this region by guaranteeing the identity and rights of its people.

The opening ceremony was chaired by the governor of Guiana Esequiba, Neil Villamizar, accompanied by Mayor Vicente Rojas, various authorities of the Indigenous Peoples and Odalys Charlie representing the Ministry of Popular Power for Indigenous Peoples.

During the ceremony, Villamizar emphasized that the opening of this registry is the result of teamwork and as a single Government, which is moving towards the “supreme happiness of the people”.

For his part, the mayor of the Sifontes municipality, Vicente Rojas, stated that “obtaining an identity document is the gateway to a life with greater opportunities and legal protection.”

He stressed that the registration of more children will strengthen the basis for implementing specific public policies that address the cultural and social needs of these Peoples.

This new Civil Registration Center will allow Essequiban children to obtain their identity, a fundamental right that will open doors to essential services and opportunities.

The project will directly benefit several communities, many of them difficult to access, including Aramene, Pawarupa, Patawaparu and all the towns located along the Venamo River line, within Esequiba Guiana.

As part of this historic day, the first civil wedding was also held in the community, which contributes to the legal and social strengthening of its inhabitants.
