A technical team from the Ministry of Popular Power for Public Works was deployed early this Saturday morning on the San Julián bridge, located in the Caraballeda parish of the state of La Guaira. The objective of this mobilization was to carry out a rigorous structural evaluation of road infrastructure and coordinate immediate repair actions to maintain the safe operation of this important artery after the earthquakes recorded last Wednesday, June 24.
The inspection on the ground was led by the sector vice president of Public Works and Services, engineer Juan José Ramírez, accompanied by the Secretary of Public Safety of the coastal entity, Andrés Goncalves.
Engineer Ramírez explained that the central pile of the structure will be reinforced and technical supports will be placed to ensure its total stability. He also clarified that the bridge remains operational because the pavement that gave way does not compromise the structural skeleton, so that leveling work with cold asphalt is already being carried out on site.
For his part, the Secretary of Public Safety, Andrés Goncalves, reported on the road mobility scheme implemented in the area to protect users. He explained that the passage through the San Julián bridge is enabled exclusively in the east direction for light vehicles, while the transport of heavy loads is being diverted to the alternate bridge located on the La Costanera road. The official stressed that the situation is completely under control and ruled out any reason for alarm in the population.
These corrective maintenance and engineering tasks are complemented by the arrival, also in the early hours of the morning, of a batch of 22 new specialized machines in the state of La Guaira.
This heavy equipment sent by the National Executive will immediately be added to the fronts of work deployed in the region to accelerate the removal tasks, stabilization of land and the care of the infrastructure affected by the seismic event.
