The Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology (Mincyt), through the Venezuelan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (ACAV) and the Corporation for Scientific and Technological Development (Codecyt), held a training day at the Simón Rodríguez Ecologist College, located in the Guanare municipality of the Portuguese state, aimed at students in the fourth grade of elementary school.
According to a press release, during the theoretical activity, contents related to plant health, soil and ecosystem balance were addressed, highlighting how peasant observation has allowed the development of sustainable agricultural practices.
In addition, the classification of natural inputs according to their function was explained: protection or nutrition of plants and their form of preparation, linking this knowledge to their application in production systems.
As part of the training process, a space dedicated to hydrolates was prepared, where their concept, methods of obtaining, applications and benefits were explained, highlighting their importance as an ecological alternative that helps to reduce the use of chemicals, promote sustainability and protect the environment.
Later, in the practical phase, the students developed a bioinput called efficient microorganisms, using materials such as mountain soil, fororo, molasses and cow's milk, understanding the role of beneficial microorganisms in soil fertility and crop development.
Likewise, guidelines were provided for the conservation and use of this preparation in the institution's productive spaces.
The day culminated with a reflection aimed at promoting healthier, more sustainable and life-friendly food production models, highlighting the importance of producing without the use of pesticides and in harmony with nature.
