Bolivarian Government seizes batches of sawn wood and stantillos of illegal origin in Mérida

As a result of a joint inspection operation carried out in three sectors of the state of Mérida, batches of sawn wood and stantillos of illegal origin were seized.

The operation was carried out by officials of the Environmental Impact Control and Control Unit of the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism with the Mérida State Police and the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), in which seven people involved in the act were also arrested in flagrante delicto.

The first action was carried out in the Guayabones sector of El Vigía, Alberto Adriani municipality, where a type 350 platform vehicle was found with a load of sawn wood (boards, planks and boards), totaling 43 pieces of cedar (Cedrela sp).

During the procedure, three people were arrested, including a minor, who are presumed to be involved in the crime, reports Prensa MinecoSocialism.

The other operation was carried out in El Vergel, Mucuchí, in the Rangel municipality. 200 eucalyptus stalks were seized that were in a 350 truck, operated by two people, who did not have guides for the movement of forest products. The subjects were arrested.

In the third operation, carried out at kilometer 12, of El Vigía, in the Alberto Adriani municipality, where two people (detainees) were detected who were illegally felling and harvesting 14 trees (fresnillo and amarillón), which were sawn, from which they removed 90 stalks.

Officials did technical expertise on forest products and wood cubing to determine their volume and commercial value.

The technical reports were sent to the Office of the Attorney with Competence in Environmental Matters, in order to initiate the corresponding investigations and to determine the criminal liability that may arise.
