The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, through a statement issued by the Ministry of People's Power for Health, reported that to date no circulation of the Ebola virus has been identified in the Region of the Americas.
With regard to the fact that on May 16, 2026, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of the Bundibugyo variant registered in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda as a public health emergency of international importance, the Venezuelan State has immediately activated its health security mechanisms.
In this regard, epidemiological surveillance was strengthened in the country's main ports and airports.
In addition, the technical teams are in the process of updating the protocols and the National Preparedness and Response Plan.
Finally, citizens planning to travel to affected areas of the African continent are urged to adopt basic preventive measures:
• Avoid contact with people who have symptoms associated with the disease.
• Reinforce hygiene, especially through frequent hand washing.
• Go to health services immediately if you have a fever, general malaise or any suspicious symptoms after traveling.
