The Bolivarian Government announced its intention to boost, with more force, the country's non-oil exports, taking advantage of the great potential of the Portuguese state for food production and processing.
“In nearby regions there is demand for food and Venezuela has the capacity to provide it,” said the Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Trade, Johann Álvarez, at the inauguration at the Acarigua-Araure airport of the first office of the Venezuelan Export Promotion Agency (VENEXPORTA), local press reported.
The objective of this office is to “push” the placement of non-oil products in international markets and to facilitate procedures for exporters “from the moment the product leaves the plant or field until it reaches its final destination.
He specified that Portuguesa is a major food producer for Venezuela, which contributes significantly to the national supply and is beginning to have a production surplus thinking about international markets.
In the company of the People's Power Minister for Transportation, Jacqueline Fária, and the Primitive Governor Cedeño, Álvarez highlighted that Portuguesa leads mung bean exports to China and conquers new markets such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Netherlands, and also has one of the most important exports of Venezuelan coffee to Asia, Europe and the United States.
