The Supreme Court of Brazil ordered this Friday the confiscation of 3.3 million dollars from the recently blocked accounts of companies linked to the American magnate Elon Musk in the South American giant.

With this measure, the court forces Musk to answer for the fines imposed for non-compliance with previous court orders, which led to the blocking in Brazil of the social network X, owned by the billionaire.

The accounts, which had been frozen two weeks ago, were released after the transfer of funds ordered by the judicial body.

The conflict originated when Judge Alexandre de Moraes, a key figure in the fight against disinformation and hate speech in Brazil, ordered the blocking of X and Starlink accounts last month.

Brazilian justice continues to pressure technology companies to respect local laws and assume the consequences of their breaches.

“The blocking of accounts occurred because justice demonstrated joint responsibility between X Brasil Internet Ltda. , Starlink Brazil Holding Ltd. and Starlink Brasil Internet Services Ltda. for the payment of fines,” said the court quoted by the Fuser News website.
