The participants in the BRICS media summit committed themselves to maintaining efforts to strengthen international dialogue in a document approved by the managers and experts of the member countries of the integrationist bloc, which calls for the promotion of comprehensive coverage in their respective media of interaction within the BRICS and BRICS+ mechanisms.
This instrument, reviewed by Venezolana de Televisión, emphasizes providing targeted monitoring of political, economic and humanitarian areas in the respective nations.
“Participants from BRICS countries will use their information resources to help establish a just and equitable multipolar world order, based on international law and the principles of equality, respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and indivisibility and security,” the text states.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of impartial and fact-based journalism, while expressing their willingness to coordinate efforts to combat fake news.
In this context, and in the midst of the constant siege of media and professionals, they advocated demanding that the rights of journalists be respected and their safety guaranteed from all scenarios, with special attention when they are in military conflict zones.
In addition, they advocated developing ethical standards and norms for the use of Artificial Intelligence, and for this purpose holding a professional and inclusive dialogue. Finally, the participants highlighted the indispensable role of professional associations in media cooperation and expressed their intention to continue working together to expand global ties and regional alliances.
It should be noted that the BRICS Media Summit, organized by the Russian agency Tass with the support of its Chinese counterpart Xinhua, held its debates between the 14th and 15th of this month. The event was attended by managers and representatives of more than 45 leading media outlets from BRICS countries, and others who have applied for membership, who discussed as central axes the role of the block's media community in strengthening stability and cooperation in a multipolar world, and their contribution to technological transformation on the path to a New World.
