The José Félix Ribas Municipality,
Aragua state, joyfully celebrated the exaltation of Donkeys and Burriquitas as municipal
heritage, because in recent days the Donkey Collective submitted the formal request for their appointment to the
Ribense Municipal Council.
That is why, after the
ordinary session 019, by an absolute majority of votes in the chamber, the
request was approved, which marks a historic event within the culture of the
municipality.
The president of the Municipal
Cultural Foundation, Jessica Díaz, said she was fully pleased and happy with
this great achievement and thanked all the people who made it possible.
“This is a historic day for culture
in the Ribas municipality. I remember that in 2016 they were declared
National Heritage and today the same is being done in Ribas. Thanks to our mayor Juan
Carlos Sánchez, to the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto
Villegas, the revolution achieved the task of having our Donkeys and
Burriquitas Municipal Heritage in Ribas,” he said.
For her part, the cultor and coordinator of the donkey
movement in Ribas, Norka Cato, first thanked God,
as well as the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro
Moros, the governor of the state of Aragua, Karina Carpio, and the mayor of the Ribas municipality, Juan Carlos Sánchez.
“We are all donkeys and burriquitas, a folkloric
manifestation that identifies us as promoters of culture in
Ribas, Aragua, Venezuela and the world. I feel very happy and I'm going to keep dancing
the donkeys,” she said.
It should be noted that in 2016 the Cultural Heritage Institute (IPC) officially declared the “Donkeys” and “Burriquitas” as Cultural Heritage of National Rank and September 30 as the National Day of Burriquitas.
