This Wednesday, the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, denounced how influencers and longliners use social networks and media to extort money.

During the broadcast of the Con El Mazo Dando program, he reported that false news is spread through social networks and then to get it out of circulation they charge the victims.

“When you see fellow influencers walking on the street telling their truths, they are not extorting anyone and comparing them to these people,” he said, referring to those who received money from the extreme right in order to destabilize the country with false information on social networks.

He also stressed that this method is what we know as palangrism “here there were people who had newspapers until recently and had portals just to extort money (...), some of them are in prison”.
