The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, assured that the debate for the relaxation of laws that allow for a mixed structure and operational management of the electricity supply seeks to open channels of participation, so that the industrial and commercial sector can manage their own consumption.
In that regard, he specified that this will result in immediate relief for the National Electricity System (SEN) for the benefit of communities.
“This does not affect the national electricity system, it does not affect the people of Venezuela; on the contrary, it will allow relief in some places if companies are able to generate their own electricity,” he said while expressing the support of the red curtain for this discussion being carried out by the National Assembly (AN).
Cabello reported that, currently, consumption limits never before recorded in the nation's history have been exceeded, “things are moving at an industrial and commercial level that didn't move before and that consume a lot of electrical energy.”
Finally, he recognized the complexity of the SEN and assured that each region of the country has a different reality, so he pointed out that as part of the immediate actions to stabilize the service “this week it has already increased by 150 megawatts in Carabobo and Falcón, and 600 megawatts are expected to increase by August”.
