This Monday, May 11, the general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, asserted that the electricity issue is hitting the country hard due to weather conditions.

“The electrical system is an issue that is hitting us, hitting us. Demand has increased in recent days like never before, more than 15,500 megawatts of demand, of demand. And so it has to do with the weather conditions; summer has been getting longer, the rain hasn't come in as expected and there we are,” he said during the PSUV press conference.

In this regard, he reaffirmed the request of the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, to governors and mayors to talk to private companies to connect their power plants and thus reduce the load.

“So, here we must add everything up, the president gave an instruction on the subject of these cryptocurrency mining companies, that should not exist anywhere, anywhere. No, I am authorized here, no one has authorized anyone for that,” he said, reiterating that these devices have a high electricity consumption.
