The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of
Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, supported the decision of the
president of the National Assembly and head of the delegation of the
Bolivarian Government at the Dialogue Table with the country's opposition, Jorge
Rodríguez, to hold meetings with all sectors on national territory.
“The logical thing is that these conversations were held
here, the support of some countries that could be accompanying
facilitators was accepted, not by us but by the people of the opposition, because... Who
is the only one who has stopped in Venezuela in all these storms of
recent years to call for dialogue? President Nicolás Maduro,” he said.
During the usual weekly press conference of the
red awning, Cabello specifically referred to the extremist wing of the right,
grouped as the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), which, he said, “is difficult to understand.”
“Until recently they said, 'no, we're not going to sit down',
at a press conference that they weren't going to do it, they weren't going to sit down with that
bunch of games and then they sat down. Who forced them, who called them?” , Diosdado
questioned when he reiterated that now these meetings “are going to
continue to be held, whether they are there or not (the PUD)”,
In this regard, he stressed that there is “a Venezuela different from
them and them (also in reference to the PUD), a Venezuela that is on
the street (...) a Venezuela that every day seems to distance itself more from the
control that the United States Government had.”
