During the meeting with various sectors of the Apure state as part of the pilgrimage that began last April 19, the sectoral vice-president for Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, spoke about the debate surrounding the Amnesty Law.
“The Amnesty Law cannot be a patent for impunity; those who committed crimes against the Homeland and promoted violence must assume their responsibility before the Law,” Cabello said during his speech to social and productive movements.
He also emphasized that any reconciliation process must first involve the recognition of the victims and respect for the country's sovereign justice, rejecting any attempt to use legal instruments to forgive crimes that have threatened the stability of the Republic.
The sectoral vice-president pointed out that peace is built with justice and that the Venezuelan people have witnessed previous attempts where amnesty was used to relapse into destabilizing plans, so he urged opposition sectors to dissociate themselves from violence in a real way.
In this regard, he stressed that true amnesty lies in social forgiveness that is built by working for the common welfare, but that institutionally, the damage caused to public property and the integrity of citizens cannot be allowed to be forgotten.
“Here there will be no elite pacts behind the people's backs; justice is the fundamental basis of our democracy,” the official stressed, assuring that the Bolivarian Revolution guarantees due process, but not the exchange of sovereignty for impunity.
Cabello said that the unity of the people of Apurea is the best answer to those who try to impose external agendas through the legal forgiveness of criminal acts.
This activity, focused on the rejection of sanctions, served to confirm that citizen security and political peace are non-negotiable priorities for the Venezuelan State in the current context of international siege.
