Call for the VI Biennial of the South: Peoples in Resistance ended successfully

This year, the biennial will occupy museum spaces and will also bring art to places of great public affluence

The VI Biennial of the South. Peoples in Resistance: The Power of Diversity, which will be inaugurated on October 3, officially closed its application period, registering a notable participation in plastic and visual arts projects.

In this regard, the general director of the Institute for the Arts of Image and Space (IARTES), Zacarías García, highlighted the large presence of photographic works, stressing the importance of this discipline in the current edition. “This fills us with satisfaction and confirms the growth and diversity of the biennial,” he said, who also mentioned the participation of other disciplines such as textiles.

Currently, the Curatorial Committee is in the final selection process of the works that will make up the exhibition. In the coming days, the list of artists admitted to participate in this sixth edition will be announced.

This year, the biennial will occupy museum spaces and will also bring art to places of great public affluence such as Avenida Bolívar, Avenida México, Plaza de la Juventud and Plaza de los Museos in Caracas.

In addition to the exhibitions, the biennial will offer training spaces at the Jacobo Borges Museum in Catia and the Cristóbal Rojas Technical School of Visual Arts in Parque Carabobo. The exhibitions will also reach the communities of January 23, San Agustín, Tiuna El Fuerte in El Valle, and the colonial areas of La Pastora, Petare and the El Paraíso parish, bringing art to every corner of the city.
