The Simón Bolívar half marathon reached its 21st edition from Los Caobos Park, this time as part of the 242nd anniversary of the Liberator's birth, providing the opportunity for the best national runners to participate.
The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, accompanied by Councilman José Reyes, awarded awards to the athletes participating in the men's category of aerodynamic wheelchairs, as an expression of inclusion, respect and commitment to a sport accessible to all athletes with reduced mobility.
This important 21K route, as reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), has become in recent years the most anticipated half marathon by the running community in the country.
For this traditional race, the city of Caracas, which also reached 458 years, is the perfect setting to continue exhibiting the public space recovered by the management of the Municipal Government and, at the same time, to continue strengthening the entire local system for the promotion of sports (competition and recreational), physical activity, recreational leisure and the use of free time, including social tourism, with an emphasis on children, youth, people with disabilities, women and older adults, for the reinforcement and implementation of the Integrated Municipal System for the Promotion of Healthy Environments and Lifestyles, consistent with the values of the City.
The mayor of Caracas extended her congratulations to all the athletes who participated in the XXI Edition of the Simon Bolivar Half Marathon, highlighting their resilience and strength to overcome each challenge.
