The Mayor's Office of Caracas launched 162 work fronts in the 22 parishes of the capital to carry out the reconstruction of buildings and public spaces affected by the earthquakes of last June 24, said the mayor, Carmen Meléndez.

In statements replicated by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), Meléndez specified that the intervention, coordinated within the framework of the Venezuela Renace Plan and Operation Caracas Smile and Renace, gives priority to the optimization of services and systems damaged by earthquakes, paying special attention to the parishes of San Bernardino, Sucre, January 23, San Pedro and Santa Teresa.

Priority works include the rehabilitation of schools, structural interventions in the Tower of David, the regularization of the Anaconda stream and integrated interventions in El Junquito.

The mayor announced that the operation is entering a new phase based on the transfer of resources and competencies to communities, so community reconstruction brigades are being formed that will directly receive tools and materials.

Technical teams will initiate inspection visits to draw up a systematic record of the interventions that still need to be carried out, which will be integrated into a digital real-time monitoring platform with social control.
