The Caracas Metro reported that the underground transport service has already been restored, after the normalization of the electricity supply, which was affected on the afternoon of this Friday, August 22, due to heavy rains with electric shocks that interrupted the country's electricity service.
“Our users are informed that, after the normalization of the electricity supply in the capital, commercial service is restored on all lines of the underground system,” the Caracas Metro reported on its social networks.
Previously, the main mass transportation company in Caracas activated contingency routes through the MetroBus Surface Transportation System, from the Zona Rental station, to Propatria, Petare, Las Adjuntas, Zoológico, and La Rinconada, with stops at intermediate stations.
The National Electric Corporation (CORPOELEC) reported a failure in a substation in the capital, due to rains with electric shocks generated by the passage of tropical wave number 29, which affected areas of the state of La Guaira, Miranda, Altos Mirandinos, the Guarenas-Guatire axis and some sectors of Greater Caracas.
For his part, the Minister of Popular Power for Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, said that after the immediate action of the specialized teams of the Bolivarian Government, the service was restored in record time, as well as the normalization of commercial operations in transport systems in the Venezuelan capital.
