The deputy to the National Assembly (AN) Pedro Carreño stated that the debate of the Public Consultation on the Partial Reform of the Organic Law of the Electric System and Service will nourish and strengthen the project before its second discussion.

Carreño explained that the Constitution requires that bills be submitted to consultation to incorporate citizen proposals, after which the commission draws up the report and sends it to the Secretariat for inclusion in the agenda.

For his part, the Minister of Electric Energy, Rolando Alcalá, indicated that the reform seeks structural adjustments and clarified that opening up to the private sector does not imply privatization, but rather the incorporation of capacities to improve the provision of the service.

The debate covers 42 articles, with 31 reforms and 11 additions, as part of the process leading up to the second parliamentary discussion.
