The Rómulo Gallegos Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CELARG) formally kicked off the colloquium “Women with their fists raised: diversity in struggles”, a space for reflection and debate that brings together prominent female voices to analyze the role of women in the social transformation of Venezuela.
The event included the strategic participation of the Deputy Minister of Communes and Social Movements, Albanys Montilla, who stressed that this year there are fundamental elements to be debated and integrated into the dynamics of popular organization.
“In 2026, there are elements to bring them to the communal table,” said Montilla, placing special emphasis on the role of Venezuelan women in the processes of citizen participation.
He also recalled the relevance of the National Popular Consultation as an exercise in direct democracy, also highlighting the role of Venezuelan women as the backbone of these processes of consultation and action in the territory.
The colloquium is structured in three high-level sessions, where a total of seven women will present and discuss their personal and collective experiences in various areas of the country's social and political life.
The cycle seeks to make visible the plurality of women's struggles from the communal base to public management.
This initiative reaffirms the commitment of State institutions to academic training and the recognition of diversity in social struggles led by women.
