In a strong statement before the United Nations General Assembly, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, denounced the “countless aggressions” perpetrated by the United States and its allies, within the framework of what he described as a “multiform war” against Venezuelan sovereignty.

During his speech, Gil recalled the legacy of Simón Bolívar and reviewed historical episodes of foreign intervention, from the blockade of Cipriano Castro in the 20th century to recent attempts at destabilization. He stressed that Venezuela has faced more than a thousand sanctions, mercenary incursions and an assassination attempt, all aimed at seizing its natural resources and forcing a change of regime.

The foreign minister condemned the US military deployment in the Caribbean, calling it an “illegal and immoral threat” that violates the UN Charter and international law. He thanked the support of organizations such as CELAC, the BRICS and the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries, which have rejected such actions.

Gil also denounced the use of “perverse lies” by the US to justify military interventions, citing the cases of Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan. In that regard, he warned that Venezuela does not represent any threat, but rather promotes peace, self-determination and regional integration.

In his final message, he reaffirmed the Venezuelan Government's commitment to a multipolar, just and non-hegemonic world, expressing solidarity with Palestine, Cuba, Iran, Russia, China and other peoples who face similar aggressions.
