The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, stressed that the essence of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) is totally popular, in which equality and inclusion exist, because “it is proposed directly from the Peoples and for the Peoples”.
During the Special Program 20 years of ALBA, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, he pointed out that this is being carried out with the leadership of each of the Governments, “but its origin and essence is purely popular, which is why it is a Bolivarian Alliance.”
“It is not a mechanism of union to discuss tariff regulations, but rather it is an alliance where projects as beautiful as the Miracle Mission, Petrocaribe were born to give us energy security, food security, health security, among others,” he said.
He pointed out that El Libertador Simón Bolívar was formed in Venezuela, “under that Bolivarian vision, of the union of peoples, of social happiness, anti-colonialism.”
In that regard, he stressed that Commander Hugo Chávez “raised those flags and left them to us in 1992 and the Venezuelan left was able to stand up with our Commander, because he raised values that go beyond that doctrine, such as independence, sovereignty, construction of national unity.”
Gil said that Commander Chávez built an alternative project to capitalism, to neoliberalism, “and one of his most courageous actions was his visit to Havana, Cuba, where he met Commander Fidel Castro, and there began the journey for both Peoples, in addition to a joint project that has not stopped in time; it remains in force.”
