The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the United States Department of the Treasury (USA) renewed the license that allows the oil company Chevron to carry out operations in Venezuela, until April 2025.
This is general license number 41, automatically renewed by OFAC, as explained by lawyer and university professor José Ignacio Hernández, through his social networks.
This license upgrade is done every six months and allows the American company to continue its limited activities in the country.
This license was initially issued in November 2022 and authorizes Chevron Corporation to maintain limited natural resource extraction operations in Venezuela. The American company “can extract oil and its derivatives, market crude oil only in the United States, but it cannot sell or export that oil to other jurisdictions outside the North American country.”
