Chile: magnitude 7.5 earthquake shook the Magallanes region (+ tsunami warning)

During the morning of this Friday, a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.5 shook the Magallanes region, in the extreme south of the Republic of Chile.

According to information, the earthquake occurred at 08:58 hours, with an epicenter 218 kilometers south of Puerto Williams, at a depth of 10 kilometers. Soon after, a 6.9 aftershock occurred.

The Navy's Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service (SHOA) issued a tsunami alert, while the National Disaster Prevention and Response System (SENAPRED) ordered preventive evacuation on the coastal edge of the Magallanes region and in the Antarctic Territory.
