This Tuesday, the Army of the People's Republic of China sent combat aircraft to monitor a U.S. Navy Boeing P-8 Poseidon patrol aircraft over the Taiwan Strait.
Chinese troops remain on high alert monitoring the situation according to information highlighted by the Eastern Theater Command of the Armed Forces of the People's Republic on its WeChat account.
Naval Colonel Li Xi, spokesman for the Eastern Theater Command, announced that the objective of the operation is to convey to his crew the demands of complying with international law and safeguarding national sovereignty.
The U.S. Seventh Fleet confirmed the flight of the P-8 Poseidon through the Taiwan Strait. “The aircraft's transit through the Taiwan Strait demonstrates the United States' commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific,” the institution said.
“The United States Army flies, navigates and operates anywhere that international law allows,” he added, according to a quote from Russia Today (RT).
