Officials from the Computer Crimes Investigations Division of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC) arrested seven people for their alleged association with the criminal gang The Silent Wire.

The information was released by the director of the CICPC, Douglas Rico, who explained that the detainees are: Koby Rossalbe Martínez (47), Albis Santiago Benavente Rivas (44), nicknamed El Churro, Javier José González García (27), nicknamed El Javielito. There are also Yosimar Del Valle Crespo Mundarain (23), José Francisco Rojas Rosal (26), Jolvin Luís Malave González (26) and Argenis Rafael Marcano Farráez (33).

“These people used computer knowledge to violate the platforms of financial institutions and thus seize funds, which they later transferred to different personal accounts,” he said.

Commissioner Rico explained about the criminal gang that once the transfer was made, he contacted the holders of those accounts by telephone, posing as a customer or a bank representative, and requested the refund of the money, claiming to have transferred it by mistake, managing to scam these people, who were making the refund, thus obtaining an economic profit illegally and evading the tracing of the original funds.
