In the state of Guayana Esequiba, a civil protection drill was carried out in the case of natural disasters, with the active participation of two educational institutions.

This exercise, ordered by President Nicolás Madur, is part of the national strategy to strengthen preparation and response to natural disasters, such as earthquakes, that have recently affected the country with no major damage to regret.

Governor Neil Villamizar highlighted the importance of this practice in the framework of the popular, military and police fusion, which includes citizen security agencies. “Today we did this drill to preserve life in the event of natural calamities. These days we have had some earthquakes in the country, which reminds us of the need to practice these procedures,” he said.

The drill was carried out in two school units in Tumermo, Guayana Esequiba, with the participation of civil protection agencies, firefighters, the health system, police and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces. In addition, teachers, teachers and students showed great motivation to acquire knowledge that ultimately saves lives.

“We will continue to do these exercises not only to address procedures in natural disasters, but also in the defense of the homeland. We will carry out military health exercises and we will strengthen the role of the militiamen who enlisted in response to the call for the ranks of President Nicolás Maduro,” added the governor.

For her part, Marlieri Romero, Director of Civil Protection of Guiana Esequiba, highlighted the importance of educating children in schools about preparing for and mitigating risks in the face of earthquakes. “It is crucial to extend this training to health institutions and the military, within the framework of the prevention and defense of the nation,” Romero said.

This simulation not only seeks to improve the response to natural disasters, but also to strengthen the country's capacity to maintain the freedom, sovereignty and happiness of the country in emergency situations.
