At a meeting held at the National Autonomous Cinematography Center (CNAC), the designated commission formally presented to the institution's Executive Committee a methodological proposal for the discussion of the National Cinematography Plan 2026-2031.
According to information from the Ministry for Culture, the proposal received the support of the vast majority of committee members and was greeted with enthusiasm given the satisfactory results of the first three weeks of work.
The document proposes a democratic and participatory process, structured in a schedule of 11 weeks of work that includes mechanisms for broad consultation, such as an open call through digital forms, technical work tables and plenary sessions.
In this regard, the president of the CNAC, Román Chamorro, reiterated the importance of this strategic plan for outlining the industry's roadmap in the coming years. He assured that this process will be transparent and inclusive: “In the coming days, the logistical details, dates and official channels of participation will be announced publicly.”
As one of the key aspects of this process, the participation mechanism planned for the public consultation was also presented to the Executive Committee, which will facilitate the compilation of proposals. It will be divided into eight thematic axes, covering aspects from production to labor rights within the film field.
Thus, creators, technicians, unions and academics will be able to submit their proposals in a digital and structured way through the Proposal Registration Form, a digital tool designed to channel the ideas and proposals of the different actors in the national film community.
This public call is aimed both at individual creators and at organizations, guilds, film schools and production companies that wish to take an active part in the sectoral debate and in the construction of public policies for cinema.
The invitation will be extended to all filmmakers, producers, technicians, actors, distributors, exhibitors and others linked to the national cinematographic work. This entire guild is asked to keep an eye on upcoming announcements and to actively join the collective conception of the National Cinematography Plan 2026-2031.
