The National Electoral Council (CNE) revoked this Tuesday, May 28, the invitation as international observers to the European Union (EU) for the Presidential Elections on July 28, the president of the electoral body, Elvis Amoroso, reported.

Amoroso argued that as a result of the renewal of sanctions by the EU against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, by unanimous decision of the rectors and rectors of the Electoral Power, it was agreed to revoke the invitation to this international organization.

He also announced that the CNE ratifies the broad call for electoral oversight for the 2024 Presidential Election, in exercise of the powers conferred by the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Organic Law of Electoral Power and the Organic Law on Electoral Processes.

At a press conference at the headquarters of the CNE, Amoroso read the statement issued by the board of the Electoral Power, in which he demanded that the European Union lift unilateral coercive sanctions against Venezuela, otherwise they will not be able to participate as observers in electoral processes taking place in the country.

In addition, regarding the oversight offices, he specified that more than 200 personalities from the five continents will accompany the electoral process, including human rights defenders.
