The National Theater Company (CNT) will celebrate World Theater Day this Friday, March 27, with a special program in the Román Chalbaud room of the Alberto de Paz y Mateos Theater, in Caracas, starting at 5:00 in the afternoon.
The day, which will be free admission, will begin with the reading of the official message of the anniversary, written this year by Willem Dafoe, which will be played by actress Dora Farías, a Venezuelan television review.
As part of the program, there will be the naming of the book “Dramas de la Patria” by the writer Luis Britto García, a publication published by Monte Ávila Editores Latinoamericana in conjunction with the CNT, which addresses Venezuelan identity from a critical perspective.
The closing will be in charge of the play “Pink Kidnapping”, by Elio Palencia and directed by Rufino Dorta, a comedy set in Venezuela in the nineties. The cast includes Dora Farías, Yurahy Castro, Ariana León, Angélica Rinaldi, Yendy Vegas, Omar Churión and Jesús Plaza.
The activity organized by the Ministry for Culture seeks to highlight Venezuelan cultural identity through words and performing art, in a celebration open to the public that commemorates the value of theater as an artistic expression.
