The Minister of Popular Power for University Education, Ana María Sanjuán, reported that after the double earthquake that affected several locations in the country, the members of the National Council of Universities (CNU) will meet this Thursday to evaluate the damage caused by the earthquakes.
“We have had effects on several universities, but the location of the infrastructure problems is located in the central-north coastal area of the country, especially in La Guaira,” she said, quoted by the national press.
In this regard, Sanjuán pointed out that this meeting will allow the CNU to carry out a diagnosis of the infrastructure of higher education institutions in the states of La Guaira and Carabobo, as well as in Caracas.
Regarding the 24 infrastructures roughly marked with the color red, the minister indicated that “they are not necessarily lost, but rather require a deep repair process. The damage to these structures will be thoroughly reviewed to arrive in time for the months of September and October, when academic activities restart.”
