This Friday, the Colombian Geological Survey (SGC) reported that an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 was recorded in Valle del Cauca.

“Seismic Event - Updated Bulletin 1, 2024-01-19, 06:26 local time [11:26 GMT] Magnitude 5.6, Depth 33 km, Ansermanuevo - Valle del Cauca, Colombia,” the agency reported from the social network X.

In this regard, he explained that several areas of the South American country felt the earthquake, but the town of La Virginia was the one that reported several affected homes.

According to the SGC report, after 20 minutes of the earthquake, several aftershocks of magnitude 3.7 and with a depth of less than 30 kilometers were recorded.

In addition, as a security measure, several roads in the department of Valle del Cauca and the Coffee Region were closed, as well as some tunnels in the northeast of the New Granada nation, Sputnik reported.
