In the framework of its 42nd anniversary, this Friday the National Theater Company (CNT) offers a grand gala with the staging of two great plays and the presentation of a book.

First of all, the play Mr. Hamlet, by the Venezuelan writer and comedian Aquiles Nazoa, directed by teacher Aníbal Grunn, at the Guayana Esequiba Cultural and Sports Complex, located in San Bernardino, with free admission.

The piece merges the classic tragedy of William Shakespeare with Nazoa's “poetics of simple things” to present a satirical, colorful and profoundly Venezuelan vision of the Prince of Denmark.

On the other hand, at 6:00 in the afternoon there will be the presentation of the book by Monte Ávila Editores Escindas by José Luis León, and the staging of the play La Reina, written and starring Valentina Garrido, under the general direction of Carlos Arroyo and the production of Chabasquén Producciones.

With this commemoration and the deployment of its artistic agenda, the National Theater Company reaffirms its historic commitment to the production, dissemination and preservation of the performing arts in Venezuela since May 22, 1984, the date on which the outstanding playwright Isaac Chocrón led the founding of the institution.

Currently, the CNT has the largest cast in the country, with nearly 120 actors distributed among its three venues: Caracas, Portuguesa and Barinas, through stable, emerging casts, artistic creation laboratories and youth, with prominent figures such as Aura Rivas, Francis Rueda, María Brito, Gerardo Luongo, Livia Méndez and Aníbal Grunn, some of the founders of the institution.
