As part of a meeting of collaboration and friendship, representatives of the Consulate General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Naples, Italy, were welcomed by the board of directors of the city's University Library, headed by its director, Silvia Iovine.

The meeting focused on the commemoration of the 170th anniversary of the founding of the consular headquarters, a historic event that marked the beginning of diplomatic relations with the then Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.

In compliance with the cultural diplomacy policies promoted by the president in charge of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, and taking as a reference the recent initiatives to promote national heritage led by the Executive, both institutions agreed to establish a dynamic agenda of cultural exchange, seeking to project the intellectual and artistic wealth of the Bolivarian nation in the heart of the Mediterranean.

The University Library of Naples, whose headquarters date back to the old Jesuit College of 1812 and which houses more than one million volumes, reaffirmed its commitment to the protection and enhancement of global heritage.

In this regard, director Iovine expressed the institution's interest in hosting art exhibitions, forums and intercultural events that celebrate Venezuelan identity.

This approach not only pays tribute to almost two centuries of shared history, but it also projects into the future a solid collaboration for knowledge and understanding between the peoples of Venezuela and Italy.
