In the framework of the 50th anniversary of the last coup d'etat in Argentina, former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner staged an emotional encounter with thousands of militants from the balcony of her residence.

The former president symbolically joined the mass mobilization that claims the memory of the 30,000 who disappeared during the last civic-military dictatorship. The gesture was greeted with cheers by a crowd that filled the immediate vicinity to reaffirm the social commitment to human rights on a date of profound historical relevance.

The activity was organized by the political group La Cámpora, and consisted of a massive walk that started from the memory space of the ExESMA to the historic Plaza de Mayo.

Along the way, the column made a strategic stop in front of Fernández de Kirchner's home, where the demonstrators transformed the commemoration ceremony into strong political support for his figure.

Among chants and flags, the attendees expressed their rejection of the current judicial situation of the former president, who is serving house arrest after her conviction in the so-called “Road Cause”.

Beyond the tribute to the victims of State terrorism, the mobilization took on a marked character of protest against what the militancy describes as a “political ban”. The demonstrators demanded the cessation of judicial measures against the leader of Kirchnerism and demanded her immediate release, linking her legal situation to current democratic tensions.

The commemoration of the half-century of the 1976 coup became a scene of convergence between the historic demand for justice and the political situation that the country is going through.
