Cuban
analyst Pedro José Velázquez stated that the set of
ideological and media narratives used against Venezuela has as its ultimate objective to
create a geopolitical context that justifies future actions, including the seizure of the country's natural resources.
During
his participation in the radio program Sin Truco Ni Maña, hosted by the deputy
Tania Diaz, Velázquez asserted that this is an “ideological war”
that is used to establish the hegemony of a specific narrative in the international arena.
In
the context of his visit to the city of Caracas, where he is participating in the Assembly
of Peoples for Peace and Sovereignty of Our America, Velázquez
warned that the different narratives, which at first glance seem disconnected,
are being used strategically to pave the way for interventions.
He gave as an example the rapid transition between the narrative of the Aragua
Train, the fight against drug trafficking with warships in the Caribbean
Sea, which already caused the recent theft of a “sanctioned” Venezuelan oil tanker.
He explained
that by criminalizing a country and its government through hegemonic narratives, public opinion is
prepared to tolerate or justify illegitimate acts. “If
I criminalize a country, I criminalize a government, using certain stories, language, I
allow centers of power and media to justify theft or illegitimate actions,” he said.
The Cuban
analyst argued that all recent events and narratives
respond to a central objective, as has been denounced by the president
of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro: “the seizure of natural resources.”
Velázquez listed a series of concatenated events that seek to promote the idea of ignorance of the legitimate Venezuelan government, such as: “The ignorance of the election and the recognition of opposition figures such as Edmundo González as supposed president), the different “shows” of María Corina, the recent event of the Nobel Peace Prize”
