Cuban José Domínguez climbed to the top of the podium in the fifth stage of Vuelta a Venezuela

Cuban rider José Domínguez won the longest day of the 62nd edition of the Vuelta a Venezuela.

Domínguez climbed to the top of the podium in the fifth stage, after completing a total of 201 kilometers of travel in 5 hours, 7 minutes and 43 seconds.

Initially, the stage took place in a circuit format starting from the Mayor's Office of Carora, in Lara, and arriving in the town of Araure, in the Portuguese state.

The Cuban cyclist was escorted by Colombian Cristián Damián from the GW Erco-Shimano team and in third place the Venezuelan Luis Gómez from the Fina-Arroz-Banca Amiga team, according to Prensa Vuelta a Venezuela.

For his part, Luis Mora of the Trujillo Government team extended his leadership in the general classification of the Vuelta for the fourth day with a cumulative score of 19 hours, 52 minutes and 43 seconds, escorted by Colombian Juan Carlos López (GW Erco-Shimano) to 43 seconds and national Juan Ruiz, also from the Trujillo Government.

While the points classification is led by coffee grower Cristián Damián with 45 points, Jorge Abreu (Fina Arroz-Banca Amiga) leads the mountain with 20 points and Franklin Chacón commands the intermediate sprints with 28 points.

The sixth stage begins with the 8.5-kilometer morning time trial session in the town of Araure, and a second part of 148.5 kilometers that will take place from Araure to the city of San Felipe, in Yaracuy.
