This Saturday, August 23, Venezuelan popular artists and cultors in their sensitivity and human action will join the “More Poetry for Palestinian Peace” activity in various parts of downtown Caracas, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., to raise their voices against the genocide of the Palestinian people.
The event is organized by the Open Sky Cultural School and supported by the International Platform for Solidarity with the Palestinian Cause, Ecopoetry group, Experimental Workshop January 23, cultural group Las Hermanas de Mayell, Rain of Colors, Oswaldo Mussett, Neguel Machado, Marta Doudiers and her Bittersweet Ensemble, an international group of poets F.I.E.L, Multiarte Shamaniko, and other musicians and poets.
The rallies will include poetry, music, dance and theater recitals, and will have as routes: the exits of the Capitolio Metro stations (next to the National Assembly), La Hoyada, Parque Carabobo and Bellas Artes; also, in the vicinity of the Ana Julia Rojas Theater Laboratory and Plaza la Bandera.
In this regard, the director of the Cultural School, Luis Piña, pointed out that the proposal was born out of “the need to demonstrate and raise our voices for peace in Palestine (...) We are accompanied by 50 artists, poets, musicians, people from theater, dance and people who are aware and sensitive to these atrocities committed by the Israeli government,” he said.
He stated that they will raise “poetry and words as a weapon in defense of the freedom of peoples, and against the barbarism, colonization and genocide of our peoples. No more children and women killed in this senseless war.”
