Daniela Rivera, sunfish champion and wins the ticket to the Central American Games 2026

The Venezuelan Daniela Rivera was proclaimed champion of the sunfish sport during the regatta organized by the Dominican Sailing Federation, in Puntarenas, in the town of Baní.

Rivera won the gold after beating the Mexican Valentina Carranza and the Bahamian Mary Nash in the fleet, second and third place respectively, according to the Ministry of Sports press.

For her outstanding performance, the Venezuelan leader in the national sailing ranking for 17 consecutive years (since 2008), won one of the 16 places awarded in the qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games 2026.

With this quota, the Venezuelan sailor will have her fourth experience in the Central American and Caribbean Games, since she has already participated in the Mayagüez 2010, Veracruz 2014 and Barranquilla 2018 editions, and in each of these jousts she rose to second place.

In addition, his record extends to three podiums in the Bolivarian Beach Games in the Laser and Sunfish modalities (2012, 2014, 2016), a fifth and seventh place in the Pan American Games (2011, 2015) and he ranked 60th in the World Olympic classes in Santander in 2014.

The Central American and Caribbean Games will take place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with more than 6000 athletes in action from 36 countries in the region from July 24 to August 8 of next year 2026.
